Mining Our Past Website for West Virginia Mine Wars Museum. Mining Our Past examines the amazing shared experiences of miners across space and time. This public history project explores similarities in the lives of 17th Century Peruvian silver refiners and 20th Century West Virginia coal miners.

National Geographic Explorer Blog

2014

National Geographic blog informing the public about field research in 2014. This blog followed Sarah Kennedy, a zooarchaeologist, investigating the lives of native Peruvians under Spanish rule in their colonial period. By analyzing the remains of animals in past settlements, she is able to piece together a mosaic of knowledge about how ancient people lived.
